COVID-19 Update

In accordance with NSW DoE face-to-face learning guidelines and within the guidelines of our COVID-Safe Plan, all outdoor programs with the Botanic Gardens are now operating. 

The Great Chocolate Mystery - Outdoor Theatre 

Join detective Sherlock Block and Miss Cocoa as they try to solve the mystery of chocolate!  Who, what, where and how did this scrumptious treat find its way into our mouths? Take a hilarious and chocolate-flavoured journey through time to meet the Aztec King Montezuma, Spanish conquistadors and a choc-aholic French Queen to find out. A deliciously funny, interactive time-travelling adventure!

Dates and times: Friday 16 April 
Times: 11 am and 1.30 pm 
Program length: 1 hour 
Ages: 5-12 years 
Cost: $16.50 per child (includes $2.50 per child for FDO fee) 
Group size: No restrictions

Habitat Hunters

It’s all about shelters and survival these holidays. How do our amazing native animals find shelter and survive in the wild? We’ll play games, go on a hunt for animal shelters in the Garden and make shelters from natural materials. How good are your building skills?  …will your shelters pass the downpour test?

Dates: Weekdays Tuesday 6 - Friday 16 April  
Times: 10.30 am and 1.30 pm (we can also fit start-times to your group’s needs) 
Program length: 2 hours 
Ages: 5-12 years 
Cost: $16.50 per child (includes $2.50 per child for FDO fee) 
Group size: Minimum 15 children, maximum 30 children 
Maximum groups to be booked per timeslot: 3 groups/90 children

Arty Animals

Kids will create animal artworks with natural materials including gumnuts and leaves, sand and clay. They’ll hear First Nations stories about animals and get hands on with sand-drawings, and creating cute mini-animals with clay, sticks and leaves. This program is delivered by First Nations Educators.

Super-shelters! - Incursion

It’s all about shelters and survival these holidays. How do our amazing native animals find shelter and survive in the wild? We’ll play games, look at some amazing birds’ nests and other shelters, and make shelters from natural materials. How good are your building skills?  …will your shelters pass the downpour test?

Dates: Weekdays Tuesday 6 - Friday 16 April  
Times: We will fit in with your centre’s needs. Earliest session start time 10 am, latest session start time 2pm 
Program length: 1 hour 
Ages: 5-12 years 
Cost: $10.50 per child (includes $2.50 per child for FDO fee) 
Booking numbers: Minimum 40 children (2 sessions), maximum 120 children (4 sessions)

Bag-bling and Bracelets – First Nations Weaving Incursion

Learn about the different plants that Australia’s First Nations Peoples use to make string, rope, bags and baskets. Get hands-on and try out some weaving skills to make your own bracelet or bag-bling! This program is delivered by First Nations Educators.

Times: We will fit in with your centre’s needs. Earliest session start time 10 am, latest session start time 2pm
