What you need:
- A pond, lake or river
- Large white container or tray
- A dip net or pool scoop
- Don’t put your hands near your face while dip-netting
- Wash with soap when you are finished – you don’t want to ingest any pond water
How to dip your net...
Find an area where you can safely access the bank.
Fill your container with water and place it on the ground away from the bank.
Empty the contents into your container.
Have another dip to find more!
Can you draw and identify some of the creatures you found in the net below?
Did You Know?
Dragonflies start their life in the pond and can live up to 4 years as a nymph before they transform and fly!
Respect the environment
Make sure to return all captured creatures to the water when you are finished.
