HSBC: A Growing Partnership

In 1997 the HSBC Oriental Garden introduced Sydney to a new world of plants to explore. Two decades later as Principal Partner HSBC continues to explore new worlds with us.

From the detail of DNA to work that spans the globe, HSBC supports environmental progress. Then they help us to share it with you.

Environment

  • As one third of world’s plant species face extinction, HSBC helps achieve global targets and preserve Australia’s unique “mega-biodiversity” by supporting plant cryogenics and seed banking at the Australian PlantBank.
  • HSBC joined leading philanthropists, business and government to back our Restore and Renew program. We are spearheading DNA sequencing and environmental modeling to restore damaged landscapes worldwide.
  • Conservation capacity grows across Asia Pacific through HSBC funded exchanges with our colleagues in Vietnam, Laos and Singapore.

Education

  • HSBC’s support of interactive learning allows school children in remote areas to experiment with our plant scientists through the Connected Classroom program, use digital microscopes, or share Aboriginal plant knowledge.
  • HSBC celebrates the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney’s 200th Birthday by supporting the iconic new Calyx. Interactive technologies and blockbuster exhibits will take visitors behind the green curtain to discover the secret life of plants.

Shared goals, responsiveness and the highest standards have built a partnership of tangible impact over nearly 20 years.
